Not enough hours in the day....

I am having a battle with myself.

Due to changes in Early Years  it will soon become necessary for all nursery managers to have a Level 4 qualification. I am old school, I have a Level 3 coupled with a bucket load of experience.

However I realise this experience is not going to help me once these regulations change and I am up against a workforce full of Level 4 qualified competition.

So, the big question is do I take on a degree alongside being mother to a toddler and working full time? Or would that just be mental?

  1. It would be hard going however, with your experience and working in the area you're studying in it should be too hard, I say go for it!

  2. I'm doing a full-time degree with two toddlers. It's tough but achievable. I did a few Open University courses whilst working full-time and looking after one child. As long as you're determined, you can do it.

  3. In all honesty (and it's not what you want to hear), I think you need to otherwise some whippersnapper is going to have your job. You're still in the start/prime of your career and you need to keep it up to date to keep going. Sorry, I know it's not what you want to hear :-(

  4. Could you do it part time? You might find it fun and challenging. I know mothers juggling both and loving it. Good luck whatever you decide.
