What has been your best parenting purchase?

Since Day One with Tabitha-Lo I have used these wash cloths.

When she was tiny we used them as burp clothes and bibs. The loop worked beautifully as a pull through hook for the opposite corner and made lovely little cowboy bibs.

Today we use them for cleaning face and hands after meals and snacks, along with water play cloths to clean dolly and cold compresses to reduce temperatures.

I don't think a day has gone by without me using at least four of them.

I wash them on a hot cotton wash and occasionally use a Dr Beckmann whitener to give them a new sparkle, my original two packs are still going strong 15 months on....

Definitely my best parenting purchase at £3.05 per pack from Ikea.

What is your best parenting purchase?

What one thing could you really not have done without?

  1. Well apart from any Ruby and GINGER products :) mine has to be my Little Helper Fun Pod - not a day goes by without it being used, I have a small kitchen and its been a godsend for eating, cooking, baking, painting and as a safe place to put each of my girls whilst I'm cooking - they can hop in there and colour or 'help' whilst I am cooking, washing etc and I know they will be safe. It wasn't cheap but after 3 years and being used several times a day I wouldn't be without it!

  3. I have two things.....muslin cloths from Ikea http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/00129908 (they're very funky and hugely useful, still using them now when Row is nearly two!) and one of these http://www.anorakonline.co.uk/userimages/procart32.htm which is supposed to be a toiletry bag but I've used it as a nappy/wipes bag from day one...small enough to fit into any bag yet large enough to carry stuff around in AND stylish too....am going to buy a new one now actually as they're on sale and mine is about dead after two years of solid use! :)

  4. Best parenting purchase to improve my quality of life was the material I bought to make a 'dumpty' that all toys can be scooped up and shoved into once little 'un is in bed. Much less expensive than buying a chest and I've coordinated it with my living room furnishings :)

I'm also totally in love with my new City Mini Baby Jogger too (no, I'm not a paid reviewer or anything!!!)

And I still use my Asda muslin cloths even though we know longer have reflux ssues (thank goodness) x

  6. A little ghost nightlight from ikea (ikea is getting a lot of mentions!) It's rechargable so handy for looking for lost dummies at night or just checking on my little one without waking her up.

  7. This: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Lullaby-Rainbow-Collections/dp/B0006B60WK

The best solution EVER for getting a child to go to bed, stay in it and SLEEP! 3.5yrs on, it's still a favourite.
Oh yeah, and Asda muslins ... thanks to my Sis (can't gett'em in Germany!)

  8. Without a shadow of a doubt a tube of yellow cream called:

Me-ta-ni-um, it heals your bum, of nappy rash!

Little song we sing in our house.

  10. I'm a huge fan too, in fact I'll be controversial, I have a great dislike of Sudocrem.

Metanium all the way at our house!

  11. I bought a Kiddoo seat harness which is basically a babyseat in a neat foldup bag and lives in super-tot's change bag. Super handy for going to friend's houses who don't have kids or to restaurants without high chairs. I thought that she would hate being strapped in, but she loves it. Just gutted she is now growing out of it but it would be a bit odd if she was still using it in her teens! Agrees about muslins, so handy! I like your clever ikea ones. The other thing I love is my Beaba compartment powdered milk holder that we now use for raisins, chopped dried apricots and cheese snacks. Even handy as a cup.
