Don't make me brand my baby!

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I hate Winnie the Pooh. I hate most modern Disney images. The horror of the sickly bright colours mixed with the cheesy demented grins of the characters leaves me cold.

However this is not what this post is about, this post is an honest appeal to leading baby brands to reconsider their use of the images on products.

The biggest culprit is Huggies and Pampers who both adorn their nappies with these characters inanely grinning out at us as we craddle our newborn babies.

Personally yes I choose to use disposables but I wish everyday as I do that they would make them plain or at least classic in appearance.

Most parents will agree there is nothing more gorgeous than a newborn in a plain white babygrow. ( See mine above for proof! ) So why then are leading brands forcing us to conceal Winnie the Pooh and Sesame Street underneath them, laying hideous Chavness next to such fragile skin?

I can only take comfort in the fact that my daughter does her worst on them everyday.

  1. Oh thank god I'm not the only one who thinks this.

I use cloth nappies, but a factor in my decision was that I couldn't stand the thought of seeing sodding Elmo beaming up at me on my son's nappies.

I do love a Disney Princess, but I refused to force it on my daughter, so she had no Disney branded clothes until she was almost 3, and by that time she was already a bit besotted with the Disney Princess brand anyway.

And, hooray for babies in babygrows, sweet, comfy and gorgeously cute.

  2. Maybe because it's the only way the terminally sleep deprived/clueless dads can tell which way round they're meant to go on? Can't say I'm too keen either though, especially on Sesame Street. The way I see it, Big Bird deserves a Big Turd

  4. If you read the post properly you'd see we are talking about nappies not clothing.

    But thanks for your comment.

  6. I have to say I do agree, but my daughter got through her potty training with choosing her potty training pullup pants herself and every time she went for the Disney princess ones and they really did help us get her dry as they were the perfect bribe, we moved onto proper character knickers after that and she delights in wearing them.

Have to say why do Disney make their characters eyes so big, I find them quite scary!

  7. I'm not too bothered about nappies (in fact I think that pampers don't brand their newborn ones?) because they are covered up but yes, mine just had plain white sleepsuits for their early weeks (plus whatever I'd managed to knit up for them) and I think they look beyond cute in just that

  9. agree - I especially despise Disney. My boy got given a particularly lurid set of Dumbo sleepsuits - there's no way he's being paraded round with 'thick' emblazoned on his shoulder!

We actually had to get Huggies the other day as an emergency and my daughter wouldn't wear 2 out of the three designs. At least Pampers are a little more demure!

  10. Today, I went to the beachfront with my children.
I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said "You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear." She placed the shell to her ear and screamed.
There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear.
She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is totally off topic but I had to tell someone!

  13. Hello! I realize this is kind of off-topic however I had
to ask. Does operating a well-established blog such as
yours take a large amount of work? I'm completely new to running a blog however I do write in my diary daily. I'd like to start a blog so I can easily share my experience and thoughts online.
Please let me know if you have any kind of ideas or tips for brand new
    aspiring bloggers. Thankyou!
